Ingredients
1 package of elbow macaroni
6 slices of bacon
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 tablespoon salt
1/4 tablespoon pepper
2.5 cups milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese
1/3 cup shredded Asiago cheese
2/3 bread crumbs
1/4 cup shredded asiago cheese
1 teaspoon melted butter
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 F.
Spray baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
Cook macaroni in large pot. Drain, return to pot, cover.
Cook bacon and chop into small pieces. Microwave bacon works perfectly, too and its much faster.
Melt 3 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet. Add onion, cook for 5 min.
Add milk, flour, salt and pepper, stirring often until thick.
Gradually add cheddar, provolone and 1/3 cup Asiago chesse, stirring constantly until melted.
Stir the cheese sauce into the cooked macaroni and add the bacon. Transfer to baking dish.
Combine the bread crumbs, 1/4 cup asiago cheese and tablespoon of butter in a bowl and mix. Sprinkle over top of dish. Bake 10 min or until brown.
Two coked chicken breasts cut into small pieces can also be added to the dish if you wish.
